Quality is an integral part of Killby & Gayford's culture and our impressive portfolio of high class projects and repeat business supports this statement.

Accreditation
Our joinery operations are ISO9001 quality assured accredited.

Business wide it is essential that there remains clearly defined control measures throughout a project's duration and Killby & Gayford have developed their own in house Quality Management procedures for site and office support.

Audits
Killby & Gayford operate their own bespoke QA procedures throughout a Project's delivery.

These procedures are made up of a number of vital tasks that the management teams are expected to carry out in order to achieve the desired quality and achieve project deadlines.

These tasks are audited by the Project manager every fortnight and copies of these audits are presented to the Project Director for information / comment. This routine ensures a high level commitment to quality and creates a mechanism for evaluation and continuous improvement.

Key Performance Indicator (KPI)
As part of the audit the management of the project is scored in order to measure the performance. These measures are used to kelp the Company monitor, evaluate and improve the success of our projects.

In addition to the site management and project, each sub-contractor is also scored and receives copies of K&G’s assessment at the completion of each contract.

Checklists
An integral part of the procedure outlined above are the quality control checklists that are carried out on site.

The checklist system is simple and highly effective. Checklists have been created that follow the coding and setting out of SMM7 document for each section e.g. F for Masonry.

Each section has 3 basics checklist sections.

  1. Basic - Includes general drawing / specification / setting out etc. checks
  2. Specific - This details specific points relative to the chosen section, e.g. Masonry has a checklist on cavity trays
  3. Testing - This checks for all testing / inspection requirements

It will be the Site management's responsibility to carry out these checklists to all relevant work elements. To further reinforce / emphasis the importance of checking and quality control, identical forms have been created for sub-contractor completion inconjuction with the Site manager.

Close out schedule
As each project approaches the finishing stages, we introduce a close out schedule regime in additional to the regular checking procedure.

The close out schedule follows the construction programme headings and should cover outstanding works. This is a live document completed in an excel format that will be regularly updated. Extracts of this schedule can be issued to relevant sub-contractors for information / action and can act as a meeting agenda during the later stages of the project.

Eventually this document will become the pre-snagging schedule and it is imperative that Killby & Gayford snag and inspect works before they are offered to the design team.

Feedback / Communication
It is essential to strive for 'continuous improvement' and this can only be achieved through good communication and feedback. We regularly carry out post contract interviews and feedback analysis, both with our clients and sub-contractor / suppliers. It is at this point that we assess the KPI's throughout the project and highlight areas for improvement.
