Westminster Central Hall is a conference and exhibition centre, concert hall, art gallery, serviced offices, a Methodist church, tourist attraction and public café.

Killby & Gayford was appointed to refurbish this London landmark and the works included:

  • Refurbishment of the Great Hall including the installation of a new hydraulic rising stage, renewal of balustrading and refurbishment of the Great Hall’s parquet flooring.
  • Demolition of an existing staircase to form a twin lift shaft to improve access and comply with DDA regulations.
  • Refurbishment of the administration offices and function rooms.
  • Refurbishment of the reception area including the installation of a new reception desk.
  • Formation of a temporary joinery shop in the basement site area to refurbish the building’s 400 doors to meet current fire resistance standards.

The building remained in occupation throughout the works with the client regularly undertaking church services and seminars during the day, therefore all noisy and intrusive operations had to be programmed around the client’s requirements.
