Clapham Common Bandstand

Refurbishment of listed Victorian bandstand located on Clapham Common, in keeping with the original architect’s 1890’s design.

The works included:

  • Removal of existing cast iron balustrades for replication and replacement by the original iron foundry (Sun Foundry) from 1890.
  • Removal and replication of colourful cast iron spandrels.
  • Shot blast cleaning of cast iron columns and overhaul of the aged drainage system.
  • Removal and replacement of zinc roof covering. Killby & Gayford Joinery replicated the original soffit design for the underside of the roof.
  • Hard and soft landscaping of surrounding areas including resurfacing, new benching, new lamp standards and planting.
